Are ya living it? Are ya living it right? Are ya living it right now? Are ya living it right? 12 million ways to die, choose none I rather stay alive while I'm underneath the sun Nightmares got me on the run Woke up, took a red pill I might be the one On the battlefield, angels and demons But why would a vegan be down with beefing? So on the next plane I'm leaving I'm on the next plane with first class seating Eyes closed trying to find a reason Food for thought, be careful what you eating I'm cooking up tofu in the kitchen Young but I'm old school with with the visions Add it up like a mathematician It's mad nutritious We're all taking part in this cataclysm On the coldest night Drive slow on this road of life Are ya living it? Are ya living it right? Are ya living it right now? Are ya living it right? When he hold the mic Its like he hold a knife Chop it up like salad For the sake of the ballad How long does it take balance Or feed your soul with these ancient talents 'Cause life ain't nice when there ain't grub Silent nights when there ain't no love Shine your light when there ain't no bulb High off life when I'm low on drugs Close to the edge but he ain't gon' budge If I fall I then I fly Pardon me as a soar through the sky Kick up my feet on cloud 9 Laid back all I needs a sofa Tired of living la vida loca Let your subconscious be free Relax your mind, dream easy Are ya living it? Are ya living it right? Are ya living it right now? Are ya living it right?

Do you know what u do when you do what you do Can you feel me too? You got your money blues Filling up your daddy's shoes Do ya do ya do ya know it? Poppa was a rolling stone, me I'm just a stoner Maybe if I roam the globe I can find a home or Place that'll be warmer Was colder how you treated mama Life goes on Where I'm from it's just the norm Found silence in the storm Fire in my heart Tyrant in my home Had me hiding in the dark Glad the angels followed me Mama kept me off the streets But I could hear the pain in her voice when she talk to me Similarities In which reality Has captivated casualties Emancipated family Broken chains Broken frame But the picture remains Still got nothin but love at a different age I'm getting older now the wisdom's getting stronger You getting older now I wish we could live longer So many chances, but what would you give to make it right Lets say a prayer Before we say goodnight Do you know what u do when you do what you do Can you feel me too? You got your money blues Filling up your daddy's shoes Feels like deja vu Hot up in the kitchen cant break my cool Cant front like I aint like you Zoned out thinking of a master plan First I gotta find a way to be a master zen Take it past the pen Cant go to the past again I see it in your eyes, so passionate Quite irrational Life quite fast ya know That make my heart beat rather slow Out the concrete like the blackest rose Oh gardener, once you plant your seed You must find a way to take care and give it what it needs How can I survive Wasn't built for 9 to 5 But what I create will give your soul, body, and your mind a high Silent cries As I wonder when will mama find A little bit of hope For the little bit of dollar sign Don't need a telescope just to see that we are stars who shine Regardless of the harder times I'm glad hat you're a part of mine So many chances, but what would you give to make it right Lets say a prayer before we say goodnight Do you know what u do when you do what you do Can you feel me too? You got your money blues Filling up your daddy's shoes Do ya do ya do ya know it?

The world is running out of precious time You pushed me over the thin red line I had enough of making minimum wage hey People in the neighborhood we fillin with rage Yeah you feeding me a GMO I'm wearing China made from head to toe You got your money and your diamond in the back hey We're lifting cell phones at the radio shack You keep us stupid cause you're clever like a king We got the numbers yeah you feel the sting We getting higher getting organized Some of the 99 percent are bound to rise You might be worried in your gated mansion Feel the pressure cooker oppression Don't you rely on daddy's Wall Street plan Better watch your back don't underestimate the working man The plan was put together long ago Don't let the masses know the knowledge you know You know we're talking bout the new world order Governments and corporations blurring the border All the princes all the diplomats Secret societies and many fat cats Gonna test you fill you up with meaningless sex Gonna give you super sonic megaplex Control the media control the chiefs Own the satellite and the cable tv Go on and get your channels get your free app They got you dialed and they know where you're at Tracking the data of the consumer Selling information to the highest bidder GIve it away get along get along give it up to the upper hand Better keep it straight don't underestimate the working man Who can you blame who can you trust who can you burn Everyday there is a lesson to be learned Too far along, cashed out and much too late Who's gonna be the one to give it to ya straight Tell the children tell the fathers and the moms We're building networks while you're building bombs I do believe there is no us and them But can you trust your fellow citizen Get it up get it out get it on and raise the flag Your baby's dreaming in a body bag A soldier's wasted life for world control No meditation gonna spare the soul You got your guns you got your lock and load You gonna hole up in a lead fox hole We gonna bullet proof the minivan Better watch your back don't underestimate the working man ©2014 D. I look out my window I get out on the street I feel the energy of the people passing me I get a little stressed it's like a competition I see the wall street banker against a musician I see the men in suits costing more than my rent I see the ladies taking numbers with no love intent My daddy told me in this world it's the difference you make It's about the love that you give not the love that you take I wanna show you the love that I got I wanna groove to the beat of my heart No one controls us no trip no duress Making something real out of this mess We got the digital flow coming down a broadband pipe We go the information highway and the land of hype We got the overload overlords and the NSA And the government is watching every move we make I could say I don't care but it gives me the creeps How a corporation sells this information on me It's not like I'm ascetic you know I have my fun But I'd like to keep it poetic when the justice is done I wanna show you the love that I got I wanna groove to the beat of my heart No one controls us no trip no duress Making something real out of this mess I get so downhearted with my neighbors today Feels like the we found the money and got lost along the way Once we were all little kids trying to do the right thing But our parents got twisted on a wedding ring We got control we got the best we got the better than the rest We got the shortcut big butt easy access But are we better off now than generations long ago Or just chumps in a corporate reality show I wanna show you the love that I got I wanna groove to the beat of my heart No one controls us no trip no duress Making something real out of this mess (c) 2014 D. It's a lot to ask on a night like this When the the edge of love is a precipice You wait you cry you hate you lie And tear the walls from your insides The world is cruel the world is basic Better strike out than to run the bases Just keep your eyes on the game at hand Take another swing take another stand Everywhere love will find you Anywhere you go It takes a fool and it takes a friend You come to rely and you come to depend The others seem cool they look complacent But your kind of love's got no replacement Now loneliness is your companion Goes deeper than the Grand Canyon Some days are down some days are high Confidence is tough to come by Everywhere love will find you Anywhere you go Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh ooooh Love will find you everywhere you go You talk it through you work it out But nobody can tell you what it's all about We're all searching just like you True colors ain't black and blue Deleted photos and boxes of things You used to say love will give you wings Feeling grounded like a overbooked flight Too many dark days and violent nights Everywhere love will find you Anywhere you go Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh Oooh ooooh Love will find you everywhere you go ©2014 D. about

After crafting out a couple reggae infused remixes for Nicole Atkins and for The Casket Girls, Pattillo heard something thumping in just the right way. On a random walk home from his Nolita studio, he happened upon a musical collective called The Lesson. It was live music at its best moment: before anyone with bad ideas could get their hands on it. He met several young undiscovered singers and MCs. He came back night after night, and, for weeks, all he did was watch. Then the collaborations began, and the album "Lights On" started to take shape.

Like Beck’s Odelay or Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz and Deltron 3030 collabs, Pattillo experimented with morphing genres of vintage soul, 60's guitar psychedelia, and organic hip hop. Inspired by Stevie Wonder's clavinet, Eno’s landscapes, and Gil Scott Heron’s candor, “Lights On" evolved into a collection of tracks that--without any master plan--arrived at what Marvin Gaye once called “a funky space reincarnation.” Guitar washes, bass breaks, fuzz riffs, background howls: the studio sounds coalesced with the spirit of what was happening… unplanned, full of feeling, fresh.

No autotune was used on this record.
